About Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World is about 45 minutes east of Lakeland on I-4. Many families compare on-property Disney lodging against staying outside the parks and driving in.
Lakeland is a working base for Disney trips where families want a real kitchen, more space, and a lower per-night cost than equivalent on-property or close-in Orlando lodging. Multi-park, multi-day trips tend to pencil out better from here.
Where to stay
Any of the four stays work as a Disney base. Hollingsworth Bungalow and Clementine Cottage have the most space for larger family groups.

Hollingsworth Bungalow

Tips
- Plan for a 6–7 AM departure on park days. Westbound I-4 backs up by 8 AM during peak season.
- Park-hop or stay in one park. Driving from Lakeland makes one-park days easier than the multi-park hops Disney prices for.
- Use the Lakeland base for non-park rest days. Hollingsworth path, Bonnet Springs, and downtown are good decompression for kids burned out on lines.
