About Circle B Bar Reserve
Circle B Bar Reserve is a 1,267-acre former cattle ranch turned wildlife reserve in eastern Polk County. It's one of the best birding sites in Central Florida and a near-guaranteed alligator spotting trail. Entry is free.
Guests who want a real Florida-wild experience without driving to the Everglades come here. The Marsh Rabbit Run and Alligator Alley trails are easy walks with high wildlife density. Early morning is best.
Where to stay
Lake Hunter Haven and Historic Carriage House sit east of downtown and trim a few minutes off the Circle B drive.

Tips
- Go at sunrise. Wildlife is most active in the first two hours after the reserve opens; the parking lot fills up by mid-morning.
- Bring a long lens or binoculars. Alligators, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, and roseate spoonbills all show up regularly.
- Wear closed-toe shoes. The trails are crushed shell and packed earth, with bugs in summer.
